Local dancers and world class dancers showed their ballroom talent at the Kinsmen Auditorium Saturday evening

CHATHAM-KENT: CHATHAM-KENT (February 18, 2008): And the winners are.....The People's Choice award (from the votes made by guests) went to Dr. Patricia Tomney and her partner, Pierre-Yves Tinel from San Diego, California and the winners of the competition were, Dr. Gary Tithecott, Chief of Staff, CKHA and his beautiful and talented partner Laetitia Santore from San Diego, California.

Over 550 guests filled the Kinsmen Auditorium to watch the outstanding performances by local healthcare performers with their professional partners this past Saturday evening in support of the $3.5 million Making the Right Investment - MRI Campaign.

After taking only 25 - 30 hours of dance lessons from, Philip & Karen Bourdeau, owners of For the Love of Ballroom Dance Studio, and having only 4 hours of practice with their professional partners on Saturday morning to prepare for that evening's production, the local participants pulled off fabulous performances that included tremendous skill, style, grace and flare!

The evening opened with Phil and Karen Bourdeau performing the Quickstep! Following the opening dance local dancers, Dr. Gary Tithecott, Dr. Brian Gamble, Ken Tremblay, Dr. Donna Watterud, Dr. Pat Tomney and Siobhan Tremblay competed in two different styles of dance with their professional partners Andrea Nelson-Novak, Mark Nelson-Novak, Porfirio Landeros, Laetitia Santore, Susan and Pierre-Yves Tinel - all from California.

At 9:30 the dance floor opened for guests to showcase their ballroom and club style dance moves.

Other performances included Professional Partners performing powerful pieces together and local backup dancers, Dr. Linda Sinnaeve and Dr. Mary MacIntyre performing with Phil Bourdeau.

One lucky guest went home with 14kt white gold earrings valued at $1,596.00 special thanks to Affinity Jewellers for donating the evenings exquisite raffle item.

"The Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is truly thankful to the many local businesses who have offered to support this event. Without their support, the event would not have been successful," stated Michelle Grzebien, Executive Director, for the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Saturday's line-up of professional dancers were exceptional and worked hard under some last minute pressure. The original dancers slated for Saturdays performance were unable to attend due to an illness and other unforeseen circumstances. Saturday's calibre of professional dancers were second to none and we appreciate their commitment to the campaign.

Dancing for the Stars was the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's first special event fundraising initiative for the Making the Right Investment Campaign for the Chatham Kent Health Alliance Foundation. The success of the campaign will bring an MRI machine to the Chatham Kent Health Alliance for the residents of Chatham Kent.
